The New .88 Is In Place!
Normally, I reserve this publication for announcements of upcoming events and activities, and exclude other kinds of news.  However, a recent event does require that I direct your attention to its outcome.  The new 146.880 repeater is now in place at Cityplex!  If you haven’t used or listened to it in a while, you might reconsider doing so.
The major change that most need to know about is the change in PL’s.  The Cityplex receiver now responds to 88.5, and 141.3 has been reassigned to the Keetonville receiver.  The PL for the Skiatook receiver remains at 82.5.  The transmitter also outputs an 88.5 tone.
The new repeater is a Kenwood, so you will notice a major improvement in the audio.  The old DVR is gone, replaced by a new Synthesized Voice Announcer, and few standardized voice messages.
I will include a more complete report in The Signal, but for now I will say a great big THANK YOU and FINE BUSINESS to Merlin Griffin, WB5OSM, Bob Buford, W5RAB, Joe Gorkos, N5TEX, Tom Shaw, K5OVT, and Bart Pickens, N5TWB, for all your efforts on the new repeater project and repeater maintenance!

July 2016 TRO  - POSTPONED
Due to the storms that affected Tulsa County on Thursday, 14 JUL,  the foxhunt is postponed for at least one week.  Power is out at the home of the Fox, Kelly Walls, KD5HPG, and many areas in the county are still dealing with outages and debris removal, so Foxhunters could have problems navigating.  Watch the club website and Facebook page for updates.

July 2016 Membership Meeting - HAVE QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS!
Even though we are not Radio Shack, we probably have a few experienced members who can answer your questions about ham radio technology, operations, etc. So, for our program this month, we will have a Ham Radio Q & A Session. To make sure that we have the right people on hand, we ask that you first send your questions to WA5LVT@tulsahamradio.org.
We know that most of the information could be found in books or on the Internet, but sometimes people can understand and remember things better if someone explains things in person.
Even if you don't have questions, come on out! You just might learn something new!
Time: 7 PM  Tuesday 26 JUL 19
Place: Tally’s Good Food Café, 11th & Yale

Interested in Net Control training?

The Tulsa ARES organization is offering training to become a net control operator (NCO).  NCO’s are critically important to our ability to conduct proper nets during emergencies.  We are looking for ARES members that want to learn how to run a net.  The training will include an overview of NCO’ duties and best practices along with a place in a rotation that will allow practice.  Experienced NCO’s will be your mentors and help you along the way.

If you are interested please contact Paul Teel, WB5ANX@arrl.net, Ray Young (K5CFY) at broncoman351@sbcglobal.net, or Ben Joplin (WB5VST) at benj1@aol.com.  Date, time and location TBD, but Paul is looking at early August.
