TRO Membership Fees Due 01 MAR 16
That time of year again.  Time to break out the checkbook and fire up the ink pen, write out a check, address and stamp an envelope, and snail mail it to the address above.  Or you could take your check or cash to the March meeting, or drop by the TRO hamfest booth, and pay in person.
What if you want to do it the 21st Century way, online?  Well, if you have a PayPal account, you can.  I know, because I did it that way.  You sign in to your account, select the Send and Request feature, then select Pay for Goods or Services..  The system will ask for an email.  Use wa5lvt@tulsahamradio.org.  Then set the amount to $25.00 US, add the description, “2016 TRO Membership Dues for < your name & callsign >,” designate the checking account or debit/credit card you wish to use, and submit.
Both you and Steve Miller - AA5V the TRO Treasurer should receive confirmation emails when the payment is processed.  If you need additional help, contact me or Steve.

Returning From the Mists of Antiquity!
Well, not really...  But the TRO has not had a foxhunt in quite a while.  So, if no one objects, I will be the Fox, on Saturday, 19 MAR 16.  I have uploaded rules and a quick tutorial for foxhunting at the club’s Facebook page.  The hunt will begin around 1000 (10 AM) on either the 146.88, or 146.94 repeater.  More info available through this event page:

HAMFEST IS COMING!  HAMFEST IS COMING!!
Green Country Hamfest is less than a month away, and plans are getting clearer.
The GCHF website now has an forum schedule including 2 test sessions, weather, D-STAR, OKDXA, ARRL, ARES, and AMSAT.  Not on the schedule is a possible meet and greet session with Bob Heil, W9EID, about Ham Nation and other ham radio subjects.
The prize lineup is the same as last year, except for Second Prize.  Last year’s prize was an Elecraft KX3; this year it’s a Kenwood TS-590SG.  Two of the hourly prizes will be Yaesu FT-8900R QUADband mobiles.  Are you drooling yet?
Hope to see you there!

#####
The Calm Before The Storms
Spring is not too far away.  When Spring comes to Oklahoma, a few severe storms usually mosey on through the area and ask for a bit of our attention.  To make sure that we’re ready (or at least as prepared as we can be), the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa conducts their storm spotter training sessions during January, February, and March.  Two of those sessions will be in Tulsa County, and here are the details:

Saturday 28 FEB  OU Schusterman Center Perkins Auditorium, 41st & Yale @ 0900
Monday 02 MAR  Broken Arrow Main Street Community Center @ 1900

Another session close to south Tulsa County will be in northeast Creek County at the Mounds Fire Department, 1900 hrs Monday, 30 MAR 15.

More sessions around the Tulsa CWA can be found at this website:  srh.noaa.gov/tsa/?n=spotter_training.

#####
Green Country Hamfest – Volunteer Opportunities
Hamfest will be here before you know it!  I know we all look forward to the opportunity to look around at some ham radio goodies, maybe buy a few, maybe take in a forum or two, possibly test to upgrade to General or Extra, see people you don’t see very often, maybe meet someone you haven’t met yet and make a new friend.  But putting on a hamfest is lots of work.  (Truth be told, most things that are fun actually do involve a lot of work, but we don’t mind because of the fun!)  This work is done by volunteers.
ARES Oklahoma has taken on the job of minding the front door, so they are looking for members to serve as greeters for two hour shifts.  An ARES deployment vest is required, but if you don’t have one, you have time to get one from either arrl.org or hamthreads.com/products/vests/ares-vest-meets-all-arrl-specifications.  You might also be able to borrow a vest.  To volunteer for this important role, contact Nathan Huffstetler, AE5NK, at ae5nk@yahoo.com, or call 918-513-1379 or respond to this Facebook link: facebook.com/groups/340786045950016/permalink/977186348976646/.
I am also looking for people to help with the TRO club booth.   I'm not looking for anyone to spend a lot of time there, and you do get to sit down!  If you want to get your name on the list early, you can pick the time you want to work. I'm planning on no more than an hour apiece for each volunteer. Also, if you get your name on the list early, the club will probably spring for an extra hamfest ticket.  Contact me at kc5zqm@gmail.com or 918-805-0337.  I will probably set a final schedule at the February TRO meeting.
For other opportunities, contact one of the Hamfest Committee members at greencountryhamfest.org/Contacts.asp.

Request For Feedback

For the Bulletin to continue to be the useful tool I intend it to be, I need your feedback. I need to know of any items that I should add, remove or change. I will consider all suggestions.
Plus any comments about the quality or the handling of the Bulletin will be appreciated.
Please send any comments, corrections, additions, etc., to kc5zqm@gmail.com. DO NOT send them as a reply to the WA5LVT Yahoo Group, unless you want the entire group to see them before I have a chance to review them.
