NEW YEAR, NEW OFFICERS
A nominating committee for the 2013 TRO officer elections has now been formed. The committee consists of myself, Merlin Griffin WB5OSM, and Mark Conklin N7XYO. We are looking to fill the slots for President, Vice President, and Secretary. Nominations are on the agenda for the meeting Tuesday night.

If you are willing to fill one of these positions, or you know of a suitable candidate, please contact any committee member. To keep from scaring off the vic.... uh, potential candidates, I recommend using email. You may use my address listed in the Feedback section below. If you have the time, energy and other resources to serve as an officer, PLEASE consider doing so, even if you think you might not be a good candidate.

I would personally like to thank Stanley Callahan, KE5HPB for serving as our President for the last two years. He has done an outstanding job, despite dealing with some health and family issues. Even though I would like to see him continue, he has earned a break!

I don't want to forget the job done by our Vice President, Joe Gorkos, N5TEX. He has brought us some excellent programs, and even let me put on a couple.

Post Oak Challenge 2013

The Post Oak Challenge will happen on Saturday & Sunday, March 2 & 3. 2013, based at the Post Oak Lodge, northwest of downtown Tulsa. Saturday races include distances of 10, 25 and 50 km, on trails on the Lodge property. Sunday races are quarter, half, and full marathons, on a combination of trails, paved and gravel roads. The TRO will again provide communications for this event. Assignments include 3 Command Post personnel (NCO's and APRS Support). 5 Aid Stations, and 2 Safety posts.

For more information about the event itself, check their website:

http://www.postoakrun.com/

Are You Ready For Some Weather?  The Tulsa National Weather Service Office has already posted their Storm Spotter Training Schedule for 2013. Sand Springs will have a session on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Case Community Center at 7 PM. Tulsa is listed for Saturday, February 16, 2013, but no location is listed yet. I'm sure that Broken Arrow will have their session on the first Monday in March. Keep an eye on the schedule here:

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tsa/?n=spotter_training

Preparation for storm season includes more than just spotter training every year. Have you made provisions for your family to be protected from storms? Is your vehicle in good enough condition to handle the extra miles required for spotting/chasing? Do you have the proper reporting frequencies programmed into your radios? How often do you check the SPC Convective Outlooks, the Tulsa NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook, or forecast models to get a heads up about the potential for severe weather?

Request For Feedback

For the Bulletin to continue to be the useful tool I intend it to be, I need your feedback. I need to know of any items that I should add, remove or change. I will consider all suggestions.

Plus any comments about the quality or the handling of the Bulletin will be appreciated.

Please send any comments, corrections, additions, etc., to kc5zqm@cox.net. DO NOT send them as a reply to the WA5LVT Yahoogroup, unless you want the entire group to see them before I have a chance to review them.
