NEW YEAR, NEW OFFICERS
A nominating committee for the 2013 TRO officer elections has now
been formed. The committee consists of myself, Merlin Griffin
WB5OSM, and Mark Conklin N7XYO. We are looking to fill the slots for
President, Vice President, and Secretary.
If you are willing to fill one of these positions, or you know of a
suitable candidate, please contact any committee member. To keep
from scaring off the vic.... uh, potential candidates, I recommend
using email. You
may use my address listed in the Feedback section below. If you
have the time, energy and other resources to serve as an officer,
PLEASE consider doing so, even if you think you might not be a good
candidate.
I would personally like to thank Stanley
Callahan, KE5HPB
for serving as our President for the last two years. He has done an
outstanding job, despite dealing with some health and family issues.
Even though I would like to see him continue, he has earned a break!
I don't want to forget the job done by
our Vice President, Joe Gorkos, N5TEX. He
has brought us some excellent programs, and even let me put on a
couple.
Book Recommendation
During this time of year, I often post items about EMCOMM training
because the calendar for scheduled activities usually clears up for a
while. Except for routine meetings and holiday events, we don't have
much else going, except for an occasional winter storm, and this is a
good time to get in those recommended ICS courses. Well, to give you a
head start on those, I have here a link to the NIMS core document, which
covers not only the Incident Command System, but the National Incident
Management System as well. I recommend you download it and keep it
handy as a reference. Here's
the link:

Spotter Training Schedule
The Tulsa National Weather
Service Office has already posted their Storm Spotter Training Schedule
for 2013. It does not have a large number of dates listed yet, but it
does show a
couple for Tulsa County already. Sands Springs will have a session
on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Case Community Center at 7 PM. Tulsa is listed
for Saturday, February 16, 2013. I'm sure that Broken Arrow will have
their session on the first Monday in March. Keep an eye on the schedule
here:
