Broken Links
I received an e-mail this week about a broken link in the Bulletin.  The message did not specify which link was broken, so I checked every one before starting on this issue.  The only broken link I found was the one for the American Airlines Amateur Radio Club.  I couldn't find an active link with current information about the club, so I removed that link.  The link for the Broken Arrow ARC wasn't broken, but their website address has changed, so I changed the link.
I suppose the broken link that prompted the original message might have been to one of the files I mentioned in the item about Becoming A Better Communicator - Revisited.  If you have problems accessing those files from Mediafire, send me an email and I'll directly send you back the files.  Use the addy given in the Feedback section instead of the WA5LVT yahoogroup addy.

Post Oak Challenge 2013
The Post Oak Challenge will happen on SaturdaySunday, March 2 & 3. 2013, based at the Post Oak Lodge, northwest of downtown Tulsa.  Saturday races include distances of 10, 25 and 50 km, on trails on the Lodge property.  Sunday races are quarter, half, and full marathons, on a combination of trails, paved and gravel roads.  The TRO will again provide communications for this event.  For more information about the event itself, check their website:

Spotter Training Schedule
The Tulsa National Weather Service Office has already posted their Storm Spotter Training Schedule for 2013.  It does not have a large number of dates listed yet, but it does show Tulsa listed for Saturday, February 16, 2013.  I'm sure that Broken Arrow will have their session on the first Monday in March.  Keep an eye on the schedule here:

A New Tradition?
Us hams are peculiar creatures.  On the one hand, we are innovators, often having a hand in the development and implementation of new technology.  On the other hand, we have our traditions.  Sometimes, it seems like those traditions include some things that are distasteful.
One unfortunate incident within the last year or so could have been prevented with an application of courtesy.  While reflecting on this event, I remembered that courtesy is the first item in the Radio Amateur's Code.
In light of this, I would like to propose a new tradition.  In addition to the usual introductions to start our club meetings, have someone read the Radio Amateur's Code, and maybe lead the members in reciting it.  Maybe this will help prevent future misunderstandings and problems.
If you want a copy of the code, here's a link:

Request For Feedback

For the Bulletin to continue to be the useful tool I intend it to be, I need your feedback. I need to know of any items that I should add, remove or change. I will consider all suggestions.

Plus any comments about the quality or the handling of the Bulletin will be appreciated.

Please send any comments, corrections, additions, etc., to
kc5zqm@cox.net. DO NOT send them as a reply to the WA5LVT Yahoogroup, unless you want the entire group to see them before I have a chance to review them.
