Have You Missed It?
The Tulsa Area
ARES/RACES Net??
Haven't heard it on
146.88
on Thursday
nights for a while?
Where'd it go?
It is now the
ARES-Oklahoma Tulsa
Metro Zone 5 weekly
Thursday night
net.
The time is still
2000 hrs. (8
PM), but the
frequency has
changed. It is now
on the Tulsa Amateur
Radio Club's
W5IAS UHF Superlink
System. The hub of
the system is
443.850. Other
repeaters on the
system located
inside or near Zone
5 are the 442.000
Mannford, the
444.600 Mounds, and
the 443.100 Muskogee
repeaters. All of
these repeaters have
a standard positive
offset of 5 MHz and
a PL of 88.5.
You can find other
repeaters on the
system at
www.w5ias.com
or
www.oklahomarepeatersociety.org.
The 146.880 (with a
standard negative
offset of 600 KHz
and PL of either
88.5 or 141.3) will
continue to serve as
a backup.
Many thanks to the
leaders of the TARC
for the use of the
Link!
Holiday Happenings
As I have mentioned in
recent articles, ham
radio activities are
winding down for the
year, except for the
Route 66 Marathon and
some holiday events. I
now have some
information regarding
the holiday events.
The Tulsa Amateur Radio
Club will help stage the
Sand Springs Christmas
Parade,
Friday, 30 NOV 12.
Bands, floats, vehicles,
and other entries will
line up in the K-Mart
parking lot before
dark. Volunteers will
need HT's,
weather-appropriate
clothing, and headphones
or earphones with
hearing protectors.
The TARC will also stage
the Toys for Tots Toy
Run,
Sunday 09 DEC 12.
Motorcycle enthusiasts
will line up at the
Tulsa State Fairgrounds
to collect toys for the
Marine Corps Toys For
Tots campaign.
To volunteer for either
or both of these events,
contact Jay Eimer,
AD5PE,
ad5pe@arrl.net
or 918.852.2885 or
918.371.9137.
Also, the TARC and the
TRO will combine efforts
for their Christmas
Parties,
18 DEC 12 at
Tally's Good Food Cafe,
11th & Yale. The clubs
will have separate
drawings for their
members, so hams that
are members of both
clubs have improved
chances of winning
something!
Route 66 Marathon, 17
- 18 NOV 12
The TRO is
still looking for
volunteers for
this event on both
Saturday and
Sunday. Volunteers
can sign up to work
either day, or both
days.
A Net Control is
needed for both
days, and 3 Med
carts are open for
Sunday.
The 5K and Fun Run
will be run on
Saturday November
17, 2012, and both
will start and
finish at Veteran's
Park at 19th and
Boulder. These runs
are primarily for
practice for those
runners not sure
they want to do a
full marathon, or
they desire
extra
training before the
main event.
The Marathon, Half
Marathon and
Marathon Relay will
be run
on Sunday November
18, 2012. All
Sunday races start
at 7th and Main and
finish at Veteran's
Park.
For more information
about the event
itself, check their
website:
http://route66marathon.com/.
Marathon officials report
that the event is a
sellout
with 20,000 people
entered,
so the need will be
great. This will
also be an excellent
opportunity to
represent amateur
radio to the public.
Personal Note
I am facing some
health and
transportation
issues that will
affect my ability to
participate in ham
radio activities.
Until I get a handle
on these issues, I
will not be working
any public service
events and probably
won't be attending
any club meetings.
I will continue to
produce the Bulletin
so others can know
of these
opportunities.
Everyone stay
healthy!

Request For Feedback
For the Bulletin to continue to be the useful tool I intend it to be, I need your feedback. I need to know of any items that I should add, remove or change. I will consider all suggestions.
Plus any comments about the quality or the handling of the Bulletin will be appreciated.
Please send any comments, corrections, additions, etc., to kc5zqm@cox.net. DO NOT send them as a reply to the WA5LVT Yahoogroup, unless you want the entire group to see them before I have a chance to review them.
