Simulated Emergency Test Personal Report
A little after 0900 I heard Ben Joplin, WB5VST announce on the 443.850 and 146.880 repeaters that stations wishing to participate should check with their EC's on 146.550 simplex.  I made a general call on that frequency about 10 minutes later, using a 2-meter HT and a mag-mount antenna from inside my house in Kiefer.  No response heard.
I heard some activity about an hour later, and attempted to make contact then, but no success.
At 1038, I made another general call from my mobile radio in my driveway, and again a few minutes later from in front of the Kiefer City Hall.  Again, no response heard.  Soon afterwards, while driving eastbound on OK 67 (151st Street), W5TAZ called me to report that the Net Controls were hearing me and were trying to get back to me.  I pulled into the parking lot of the Kari-Okie Cafe & Bakery to acknowledge his report, and to inform him that I was headed to an event in the southwest corner of Tulsa. I would also continue to listen and respond to any traffic heard on the frequency, and would make one stop for a final call close to my final destination.
At 1100, I made the final call from 86th & Union.  Again, no response from Net Controls heard.  I did copy W5TAZ again as he reported to me that he heard me full scale at his home close to the Channel 8 TV station.
I will forward a more detailed log of my activity to the ARES leadership.
 
Route 66 Marathon, 17 - 18 NOV 12
The TRO will provide communications for this event on both Saturday and Sunday.  Volunteers can sign up to work either day, or both days.
The 5K and Fun Run will be run on Saturday November 17, 2012, and both will start and finish at Veteran's Park at 19th and Boulder.  These runs are primarily for practice for those runners not sure they want to do a full marathon, or they desire extra training before the main event.
The Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay will be run on Sunday November 18, 2012.  All Sunday races start at 7th and Main and finish at Veteran's Park.

Marathon officials are expecting a sellout, so the need will be great.  This will also be an excellent opportunity to represent amateur rado to the public.

TULSA ARES RACES NET
2000 hrs (8:00 PM) , Every Thursday 146.880 (PL 88.5 or 141.3), or 146.94 (backup), or 147.390 (second backup)
Repeater status: .88 is still on the air, so listen there or on 147.390.
