Smoke Gets In Your...Radio - Revisited
Last week I discussed the possibility of smoke damage to radios.  Maybe I should have gone farther and mentioned the possibility of fire damage, for that is what happened to one ham in my county.  Curtis Allen, KF5ECI, of Mannford, lost all his emergency radio equipment in the wildfire.
While fire damage probably won't be repairable, it should be just as preventable as smoke damage.  While insurance won't prevent either kind of damage, it does help with replacement costs.

A Personal Note
I don't often mention my personal life here, as the focus of this Bulletin is ham radio activities and events in the Tulsa area.  But I do wish to mention something that might affect my ability to participate in events and it might even affect the Bulletin.
For 4 months, I have gone through lymphedema treatments to deal with swelling in my lower left leg.  I have reached a plateau of 40% loss of the original amount of excess fluid that was built up in that leg.  So, I have suspended the treatments for a time while I attack this problem from a different angle.  I do have a compression pump at home, and I will need to use it 2 or 3 times a day.  I have also ordered some compression socks that I should need to wear for the rest of my life.
I am also facing surgery to repair some abdominal hernias.  Before I go through the surgery, I need to lose some more weight.
The weight loss and surgery should help with the lymphedema situation.  After I have recovered from the surgery, I will look at resuming the treatments.

For the Bulletin to continue to be the useful tool I intend it to be, I need your feedback.  I need to know of any items that I should add, remove or change.  I will consider all suggestions.

Plus any comments about the quality or the handling of the Bulletin will be appreciated.

Please send any comments, corrections, additions, etc., to kc5zqm@cox.net.  DO NOT send them as a reply to the WA5LVT Yahoogroup, unless you want the entire group to see them before I have a chance to review them.
