Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Day is a time for family, friends, food, fellowship and football for most Americans.  The roots of our celebration go back to the earliest days of our history.  However, thanksgiving festivals and observances have been around for centuries.  I believe everyone benefits by taking time to reflect on and to appreciate the good things in our lives.  Let's never forget the true meaning of this holiday.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Public Service and Winter
With the completion of the Wiliams Route 66 Marathon, the public service schedule for 2011 has been cleared.  But we cannot assume that we can put off thinking about public service until storm season fires up next spring.  We should all be familiar with what ice storms and blizzards can do in Oklahoma.  Preparations for those events is just as important as it is for tornadoes.  Even if we don't see any of those things this winter, we should find time to review emergency plans, inspect our go-kits more thoroughly, and maybe squeeze in some extra training.  Don't forget the weekly ARES/RACES Net on Tuesday nights.  It is the baseline of on-air training.
