Map of ATV coverage
Bud Blust (WA5QDZ) ATV site chairman:
The ATV repeater is a TRO UHF medium range repeater. It's radius of coverage
is at least 20 miles.
The repeater is located at the top of the Autumn Oaks building at 71st and south Yale in
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A brief outline on the ATV system:
Originally (1985) the repeater was set up at the former KOTV transmitter site north of
Sand Springs. Sometime along 1993 it was moved to the Warren Building to cover the
Tulsa Metro area better. There were interference problems from commercial UHF
equipment at that site. About a year later it was moved to it's current location.
The receiver is a downconverter feeding a 1985 VCR to get audio and video signals for the
transmitter.
The input frequency is 434.250MHz and 1.2GHz. The exciter is a PC Electronics 10w
unit.
The power amp is a Mirage 100W rack mount.
The controller is an old Micro 100 that Bud has rebuilt twice after lightning strikes.
The power supply is an Astron 60A rack mount.
The antenna is a Decibel Products DB-408 (eight folded dipoles), vertically polarized and
Omni directional.
This system has always had the primary purpose of providing live radar to weather
spotters, Tulsa and surrounding area Emergency Operation Centers and area hospitals.
As for using this repeater as a repeater, that has always been of secondary nature.
There are more modifications and additions in the works pending club approval and
the funds for purchases
Bud has the system looking really nice.
