Field Day 2004

Lynn Adair won the grand prize at Field Day this year.  Maybe her OM Mark Conklin - N7XYO will be able to talk her into getting her amateur radio license now.

Ben Joplin - WB5VST getting laptop computers ready for Field Day logging.  Ben loaned the club these PC's for the contest.

Getting contest contacts started was Robert Coughlin - KE5BGX and Joe Gorkos - N5TEX.  Robert Morris - W5WSS (standing) helping out.

WOW! WHAT A LOT OF FUN AT FIELD DAY!

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEMBERS
AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO HELPED MAKE THE 2004 FIELD DAY A  SUCCESS!
From the Tulsa Repeater Organization

The annual TRO Picnic was great.  There were hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, fruit, cookies and other things that I'm sure I'm not remembering.  Thank You, Thank You, Thank you, to those that made the feast what it was.  Your club President, Mark Conklin - N7XYO made sure we had the main menu there along with bottled water and soft drinks.  If you know who did what of the different tasks of making Field Day the success it was, please forward some info to your webmaster to add to this report.  wa5lvt@tulsahamradio.org

The HF operations were a hit again and Joe Gorkos - N5TEX organized the assembly of an all band dipole suspended in air by helium balloons.  What a site.  He did this at the Field Day of 2001 also.  It not only works well (when you use a good antenna tuner), it is a great attention draw for the hobby.  The HF rig used with this antenna was loaned for Field Day by Joe - N5TEX.  The rig is a Yeasu FT8000 (I think).
We had a G5RV dipole mounted off the west end of the shelter and was using Brian Gnad - KB5TSI's Yeasu FT900 HF rig part of the time on it and part of the time the club's Yeasu FT920.

Thanks again to everyone that took part in the 2004 ARRL Field Day, I certainly enjoyed myself.
73's,
Steve Miller - AA5V
